HAAJAAT - Fulfillment of Desires
Almost all human beings do have something to ask for from Almighty Allaah. Some have a craving for some lawful worldly objects, some have to ask for solutions of their problems, some longing for remedy of illness and getting good health, while some have the far-sight of asking favours of the next world. Thus every one has something to ask from his/her own angle of view.
There are numerous Duaas and A’amaal shown to us by Ahlulbayt (A.S.) for fulfillment of our Haajaat. If we supplicate sincerely observing all the needed conditions then there is a sure response for it. But sometimes we see that in spite of all our Duaas and beseeching we do not get our Duaa answered. There are many reasons for it, e.g. our mode of approach may be not suitable, or, may be we are not the proper candidates for what we ask for, or, may be we are not in a proper condition, either physically or spiritually, or, may be the thing we ask for is harmful for us and we have no knowledge of it, or, may be Allaah has kept in store much more magnificent thing for future then that we ask for, or, Allaah knows best what is good or bad for us.
He definitely loves all His creatures and so he can’t give a thing to us that may do more harm then good. It is also mentioned in some Hadees that we should not stop asking for our demands from Allah even if we see that is not fulfilled, because for every unfulfilled Haajat there is a surprise gift for us in the next world, the gift which is so marvelous and indescribable that when it will be given to us there we will wish that it would have been very good if all our Haajaat in the world were not answered.

Some A’amaal for the fulfillment of Desires / Haajaat :
|
For a problem to be solved easily first pray Namaaz-e-Shab, then Ziyarat-e-Aashura, and finally recite Ziyarat-e-Jaamiah. This was prescribed by Imam-e-Zamaana A.F. (ref. Mafaatihul Jinaan). |
Reciting Ziyarat of Imam Ali (A.S.) and Imam Hussain (A.S.) is also highly recommended for Haajaat. |
Perform Ziyarat-e-Aashura with the intention of offering its Sawaab to the Revered Mother of Imam-e-Zamaana A.F. and then ask for your Haajat. |
Offer the Sawaab of complete recitation of the Holy Qur’an to Janab-e-Bilaal, the respected Muezzin of the Holy Prophet(as) |
On Friday-night recite Duaa-e-Mashlool eleven times after Ishaa prayers. |
It is stated that, if your Haajat is to be answered lately, then recite Duaa-e-Tawassul, this will hasten its fulfillment. |
Imam-e-Zamaana A.F. intercedes to Allah for our Haajat if we recite Amman Yujeebul Mudhtarra Idhaa Da’aahu Wa Yakshifus-Sooa. |
Pray 2 rak’at Namaaz after midnight, in each Sajdah and after getting up from Sajdah recite 25 times: Salawaat, Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem, Yaa Ghiyyasal Mustagheeseen. After finishing the Namaaz look towards the sky and recite 30 times: Minal Abdidh –Dhaleel Ilal Mawlal Jaleel. |
To accomplish an important assignment

DUA'A 67
Once a very poor man came to Imam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq and told him tht inspite of his best efforts, there was no improvement in his financial matters and he remined poor and deprived. The Imam advised him to recite a du-a'a after Ishaa prayers regularly.
O Allah, verily I do not know wherefrom I will get my sustenance? Indeed to look for it I lay myself open to possible risks which threaten my heart. I go round in its search to (many) cities. There I (wander) as its seeker. Truly, I do not know whether it is in the plain, or on the mountain, or in the earth, or in the sky, or under the earth or in the sea. From where and through whom it will reach me? At all events, I know, its system (of production and distribution) is in Your power (because) You are, as creator, know all about its (availability, quantity and quality). Through Your grace and mercy it is distributed. O my sustainer give me abundant sustenance, make easy for me its seeking, let its source be near me and let me not in vain run after the sustenance You have not selected for me, because You do not want to punish me whereas I am always in need of Your mercy. Give generously Your superabundant bounties to Your servant, (because) verily You are the owner of limitless gifts.

According to Imam Ali ibn abi Talib recitation of the following du-a'a after Fajr salat increases sustenance
O my Allah, save my honour and worth by giving one affluence and do not substitute my prosperity with poverty (in which case) I may have to seek sustenance (created by You) from the wicked among Your creatures, and thus be degraded by having to praise those who may give and shrewdly tolerate those who may refuse, (although) it is You who, under all circumstances, administers grants and refusals. Verily You have power over all things.

Praise to be Allah who gave me (wisdom) to follow and obey Muhammad, blessings of Allah be on him and on his children, and also peace. Praise be to Allah who has kept my sustenance in His (own) hand and did not give it to other people (like me) from whom I may have to seek it. Praise be to Allah who covers my defects and shortcomings and does not disclose my infamy among the people. Praise be to Allah, the one and only.

DUA'A 74
The following du-a'a is taken from Sahifa Alayiyyah by Imam Ali ibn abi Talib. This du-a'a is to be written, preferably on the skin of a deer or on any skin of a lawfull animal, and kept on the body for increase in sustenance.
O my Allah, (mention the name of the person with father’s name for whom this du-a’a is written) has no capacity, nor he has endurance to come to grips with misfortunes, nor he has endurance to come to grips with misfortunes, nor he has strength to withstand hunger and destitution. O my Allah send blessings on Muhammad and on his children, and do not let his means of sustenance (from You) fluctuate, do not be less generous in giving him from the vastness of Your bounties, do not exclude him from Your generosity, do not keep back from him Your liberal distribution (of bounties); do not give him over to Your liberal distribution (of bounties); do not give him over to Your creatures, nor (even) to himself, because he will not be equal to the task and will be too weak to perform well or set aright that which has gone (wrong) before, but You by Yourself put into good condition the disorder in his business and confusion of affairs and take charge of his welfare, look after all his affairs. If You put Your creatures in charge of (his affairs) they will not serve him, nor hand over (his affairs) to his relatives, they will take possession of (his rights); and if at all they give, they will give that which is less and trifle; and if they refuse to give, they will withhold much; and if they be niggardly they do full justice to niggardliness. O my Allah, give much to him from Your abundant bounties and do not let him be without (Your abundant bounties), because, verily very much in need he turns unto You to seek and obtain that which is in Your hands, whereas You have no need of him, and You are fully aware of his (needs and wants). Dua’a 283
To cure any ailment the following dua’a is mentioned in Sahifa Alawiyya, by Imam Ali ibn abi Talib.
O my god, whenever You bestow a favour on me, my thankfulness to You is not as much as it should be; whenever any misfortune afflicts me, my endurance falls short of the requisite. So You are He who did not forsake me even though my thankfulness in return of Your favour was insufficient; You are He who did not abandon me even though my endurance in the hour of misfortune was inadequate; You are He who did not disgrace me even though You saw me doing evil deeds; You are He who did not punish me even though You noticed every sin I committed, so send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad, forgive my sins, cure my ailment verily You have power over all things.

Dua’a 294
Bibi Fatima Zahra taught the following dua’a (known as dua’a Noor Saghir (small), to Salman Farsi to cure fever, if Allah wills. It should be recited as well as kept on the body as a ta’wid’.
In the name of Allah, the light.
In the name of Allah, the light of light.
In the name of Allah, light over light.
In the name of Allah who regulates the affairs.
In the name of Allah who created light from light.
Praise be to Allah who created light from light, sent down light on the mountain (Tur), on bayt al ma’mur (the house in haven above the Ka’bah) on the raised ceiling, as well as in the book written on the stretched parchment in measured quantity, and on the blessed prophet.
Praise be to Allah who is remembered with admiration, who is well-known for (His) glory, who is thanked in bliss as well as in misery.
Blessing of Allah be on our master, Muhammad, and on his pure and chaste children.

It is written in Hulyatul Mattaqin to write the following verses of the Holy Quran on a sheet of paper and bind it as a ta’wid’ on the right arm of the patient who is suffering from shaking fever. Inshallah the fever will come down.
He has let loose the two (bodies of ) flowing water, meeting together:
Between them is a barrier which they do not cross._
Yet He has made a barrier between them and an impassable partition.
“O fire, be cool and (a means of) safety for Ibrahim.”
Be it known, verily the party of Allah alone shall be victorious.
Verily Our word has already gone forth about our servants, the messengers.
That verily they shall be helped,
And Our hosts, they verily will be victorious.

O Allah the Creator of the sky and the earth the Knower of the hidden and the apparent, the Most Kind (and) generous. I promise Thee that I had been all the time giving evidence that there is no God except Thee and Thou art One that has no partner and that Muhammad (blessings of Allah be on him & his progeny) is Thy servant and Thy Prophet. And the Day of Resurrection will definitely come. And there is no doubt about it that the people who are dead and buried, You will give them life once more. And Your taking account is justified, and Paradise is justified, and all the rewards which are promised in Paradise whether they are concerned with eating or drinking & Nikah are all justified and Hell is justified and faith is justified, and faith is as you have made it. Islam is as You have sanctioned according to Shariat, whatever things you have said remain as they are, Quraan-e-Majid remains as You have revealed. and verily You are the Almighty and Justified God and in this world I once more take an oath that Thou, I agree, art the only God, Islam is the religion, Muhammad (Blessing of Allah be on him and his progeny) is the prophet, and Ali is the Imam and the Holy Quran is the Book and Verily Ahlul Bait of your prophet (peace be on them) are the imams. O Allah Thou art my Trust during my hardship; and my Hope during my trouble; and my Reliance for my matters which befall me and You are my Guardian in my bliss; and my God and God of my parents Send blessing on Muhammad and his progeny and do not leave me to my self for twinkling of my eye at any time; and grant me safety in my loneliness; and make for me with Yourself a Pledge on the day I meet you on being raised up.

Otherwise the permission must be sought). a) It is recommended that the doctrinal testimony of Islam (Shahadatain) & the acknowledgement of the twelve Imams (a.s.) & other tenets faith should be inculcated to a dying person in such a manner that he/she would understand. It is also recommended that these utterances are repeated till the time of his/her death. c) If a person is in the throes of death it is recommended to recite by his side Surah Yasin, Surah as-Saffat, Surah al-Ahzab, Ayat al-Qursi, 54th verse of Surah al-A’raf & the last three verses of Surah al-Baqarah. In fact it is better to recite as much from the Holy Qur’an as possible. d) It is recommended to carry a person experiencing painfully slow death to the place where he used to offer prayers, provided that it does not cause him any discomfort.

Ghusl-e-Mayyit click here ->for Rules For Performing Ghusl ppt
If a dead body is to be given ghusl, a pit should be dug out one end of which should be to the qibla and its length and breath should be such that all the water should collect in it. A plank should be placed over it and on that the dead body should be placed in such a way that the feet of the dead should be towards the qibla. After removing all the clothes of the dead body, put only one lungi[1]on the private parts of the dead body. Then two persons should perform the ghusl. One should pour the water and another must give the ghusl.
Firstly all the dirt and impurities of the body must be removed and by wrapping a cloth on the hand the front and back of the body must be washed. After that wudhu must be done on the dead body. Then the body must be given ghusl with water in which berry leaves are put and mixed in such a way that foam is produced. At this moment both the persons who are giving the ghusl must make an intention that: we are giving ghusl to this dead body with berry water, wajib qurbatan ilallaah. After that wash the head of the dead body three times. Then laying the dead body on the left side pour water on the right side three times in such a way that water should flow continuously from the shoulder to the feet. And the person who is giving the bath must move his hand on the belly of the dead body and once in while keep away his hand from the body so that water may reach below. Then lay the dead body on the right side and wash the left side in the same way. After that lay the body on its back and the person who is giving the ghusl must wash his own hands upto the elbows with pure water.
After that it is obligatory to give ghusl with camphor. The persons giving ghusl must make an intention that: We give ghusl to this dead body with camphor water, wajib qurbatan ilallaah. Then it should be given ghusl in the same way. When this ghusl is complete, the dead body must be laid flat on its back and the person who is giving the bath must wash his hands upto the elbows with pure water.
Then the dead body must be given the third ghusl and intention should be that we are giving ghusl to this dead body with pure water, wajib qurbatan ilallaah. After that it should be given ghusl with pure water in the same manner as mentioned above. After washing the third time the body must be wiped dry with a cloth and put on the Kafan (burial shroud).
The clothes of the dead body must be removed gently. If the clothes on the body cannot be undone, they may be cut away with the permission of the Wali (legal guardian or heir).
It is mustahab (recommended) for the person, giving the ghusl that he should face the qibla while giving the ghusl.
The dead body should be given wudhu and ghusl only in the lying position.
If at the time of giving the ghusl a nail, hair or any part of the body falls off, it should be placed in the kafan.
If berry leaves and camphor are not available all the three Ghusls must be given only with pure water.
It is detestable (makrooh) to bathe a dead body with very hot water.
For giving ghusl to a female the hair should be untied and after the ghusl also they must remain loose.
It is not permitted for a man to give ghusl to a woman and vice-versa.
If the head of the dead body is severed, in every ghusl the head must be washed first and then the body.
Method of Kafan (Burial Shroud) click here for ->The Kafan (shrouding) ppt
After giving ghusl to the dead body, one sheet of Kafan should be spread out on a pure (paak) surface and if the second sheet is having writings, it should be spread on this only. Then tear the collar of the kafan, spread half the part on the sheet and let half the part remain at the head side. Then to the leg side spread the lungi from the navel to the calves. And tearing off one end of the Rann Pech[2] keep it at the level of the waist. Then lay the dead body in the kafan and tearing one end of Rann Pech, tie it to the waist and make a knot on the navel and taking a good quantity of cotton wool, place it in the front as well behind and also sprinkle some camphor. Then take out the other end of the Rann Pech from below this knot like a loin cloth so that the cotton wool is not displaced. Join the legs of the dead body. The remaining cloth of the Rann Pech should be wrapped on both the sides. Then make an intention that I am performing hunoot to this dead body, wajib qurbatan ilallaah. Power the camphor and rub it well on the seven parts of the body that touch the ground during prostration, namely: forehead, both palms, both knees and both big toes’ tips. If there is extra camphor put it on the chest. It is recommended (mustahab) to rub camphor on the nose tip. After that tie up the lungi and put on the kafan.
(If it is a female, before the Kafani, place the ‘Seena Band’ on the chest and tie it in such a way that the knot comes on the waist.)
After that tie up the Amama and bring down its end to the chin and make a knot over there. After tying up the Amama place the right end on the left and the left end on the right. But if it is a female, instead of the Amama, tie the scarf or ‘Odhni’ on the head. Then place the Shahadat Nama (testimony of faith) on the chest. Then take two sticks of pomegranate, dates or berry on which the Kalima and name of Allah is written and wrap cotton around them and place one stick on each side of the body at the armpits in such a way that one end of both the sticks should join the collar bone. Then make an intention that I am giving the kafan wajib qurbatan ilallaah and place the left portion of the Chador (sheet) on the dead body, then the right portion. And gathering the Chador at the head side, tie it up. Then put band on the waist and tie up from the feet also. After that perform the Namaz-e-Janaza. It is obligatory to lay the dead body facing the qibla in the grave.
The body of a dead Muslim should be given kafan with three pieces of cloth:
1. A loin cloth 2. A shirt or tunic and 3. A full cover which is enough to cover the whole body.
The other three pieces are mustahab (recommended).
1. Amama 2. Rann Pech 3. Yamani Chador. If Yamani Chador is not available, any other written Chador is mustahab. The Amama should be at least three yards in length and a quarter yard wide. The Rann Pech should be at least one and a half spans wide and should be long enough to wrap around the thighs.
For female, the scarf should be at least one yard in length. Especially it is recommended that the Chador, Rann Pech and Seen Band should be long and wide enough to cover the chest easily.
For every dead body the quantity of camphor should be at least four tolas[3].
If it is the body of a fetus of less then four months it should be wrapped in a cloth and buried. For every other dead body all the necessary procedures must be carried out. If the body is of a child aged less than six years it is not obligatory to pray the Namaz-e-Janaza, it is recommended (sunnat) to recite Namaz-e-Janaza in this case. If the dead body belongs to a person aged six or more it is wajib to perform the Namaz-e-Janaza.
It is obligatory to bury a dead body in the ground, so deep that its smell does not come out and the beasts of prey do not dig it out, and, if there is a danger of such beasts digging it out then the grave should be made solid with bricks, etc.
The dead body should be laid in the grave on its right side so that the face remains towards the qibla.
If a person dies on a ship and if there is no fear of the decay of the dead body and if there is no problem in retaining it for sometime on the ship, it should be kept on it and buried in the ground after reaching land. Otherwise, after giving ghusl, hunoot, kafan and Namaz-e-Mayyit it should be lowered into the sea in a vessel of clay or with a weight tied to its feet. And as far as possible it should not be lowered at a point where it is eaten up immediately by the sea predators.
It is neither permitted to bury a Muslim in the graveyard of the non-Muslims, nor to bury a non-Muslim in the graveyard of the Muslims.
It is also not permissible to bury the dead body of a Muslim at a place which is disrespectful, like places where garbage is thrown.
It is not permissible to bury a dead body in usurped place or in a place which is dedicated for purposes other than burial (e.g. in a Masjid).
If a person dies in a well and it is not possible to take him out, the well should be sealed, and the well should be treated as his grave.
If a woman dies and there is a living child in her womb, it should be brought out in the safest possible way, even if there be no hope for the child’s survival. The body of the mother should then be sewn up.
It is mustahab that the depth of the grave should be approximately equal to the size of an average person and the dead body be buried in the nearest graveyard, except when the graveyard which is situated farther is better due to some reasons, like if pious persons are buried there or people go there in large number for Fatiha. It is also recommended that the coffin is placed on the ground a few yards away from the grave and then taken to the grave by halting three times briefly. It should be placed on the ground every time and then lifted before finally it is lowered into the grave at the fourth time.
[1] Cloth wrapped around the lower half of the body.
[2] This is a piece of cloth to cover the private parts and must be long enough to wrap it on the two thighs. The approximate size is 16’’ x 108’’ (40cms x 270cms).
[3] One tola equals 12 Maasha. One Maasha equals 16 grains.

EiEid ul Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadhan. We say farewell to the blessed month, its beautiful days and its fragrant nights. We leave the month of seeking nearness to Ar Rahmaan, the school of Imaan and an opportunity to recharge our spiritual batteries. In the previous nights, we prayed, offered charity and attended lectures. What will happen now? Have we fulfilled the requirements of Taqwa and graduated from this school with the diploma of the God Fearing?
The night of Eid ul fitr is a majestic night. It is beneficial to keep awake for Ibadah as this night is of equal importance as the night of Qadr. Eid must not just mark the ‘end’ of Ramadhan. Rather, it should be a new beginning, where we emulate our character and Islamic values, which we have focused upon for the past 30 days. We are like a child out of the womb, pure and innocent. Eid is the day of victory as we have succeeded in subduing our desires and purified ourselves. Lets not wash away our good deeds and revert to our merry old ways. Let the masjid still overflow with worshippers, let the Quran be the most essential part of our lives instead of letting it gather dust on our shelves. Our condition should be better than before Ramadhan month.
Eid is not just a ritual that provides us with an excuse to enjoy ourselves. It represents important values and participating in them, we seek to please the Almighty and attain nearness to Him.
Eid al-Fitr is a great day of festival for Muslims. It is a day of rejoicing and being happy. But for whom? Is it the day of rejoicing for those who simply put on new clothes and wear perfume? Or is it the day of being happy for those who were eagerly waiting for the release of the greatest enemy of mankind, Satan, from his captivity so that they all revert to committing sins? Unfortunately, many Muslims abstain from sins during the month of Ramadhan, but come Eid, they go back to what they were before! Cassettes of prayers, which were in their cars during the holy month, are thrown back into their cases and replaced with those, which are unlawful, by Shari'ah. The forbidden places from which they had abstained for month long, are infact the same places they go to celebrate Eid.
Just as, when a person goes to a college, or a university and at the completion of his course, he receives his award marking his achievement, we must understand that, the holy month of Ramadhan is a spiritual university where we are being trained to achieve Taqwa i.e. piety. The day of Eid al-Fitr is when Allah (SWT) is awarding us for our achievements.
On the day of Eid al-Fitr, Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) delivered a sermon in which he said: For FULL Idd Khutba /Sermon click here

"O people! Verily this day of yours is the day when the righteous are awarded and the wretched are losers. It is a day which is similar to the one on which you shall be standing (before your Lord). Therefore, when you come out of your homes to go to places of your prayer, remind yourselves about the day when you (your souls) shall come out of your bodies to go to your Lord. When you stand on places of your prayer, remind yourselves of your standing in presence of your Lord (on the day of Judgement). And when you return to your homes (after prayer), remind yourselves about your returning to your homes in Paradise. O Servants of Allah! Verily the minimum reward for those men and women who fasted (during Ramadhan), is an Angel, who calls out to them on the last day of the month of Ramadhan (saying): O SERVANTS OF ALLAH! REJOICE THE GLAD TIDING THAT ALL YOUR PREVIOUS SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN. Therefore, watch out in those things which serve as your re-creation (on this day and days to follow)" (Nahjul-Balaghah)
1. Recite Takbeeraat
(Allah is Great . Allah is Great . There is no god save Allah. And Allah is Great. Allah is Great. (All) praise be to Allah. (We) sing the praises of Allah because He has shown us the Right Path. (We) gratefully thank Him because He takes care of us and looks after our interests.)
ALLAAHU AKBAR ALLAAHU AKBAR LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH WALLAAHU AKBAR ALLAAHU AKBAR WA LILLAAHIL H’AMDUL H’AMDU LILLAAH A’LAA MAA HADAA NAA WA LAHUSH SHUKRU A’LAA MAA AWLAAANAA
|
2. Give Zakaat-e-Fitra, which is 3 kilograms of the item commonly eaten per person in the house and it is better give it before Eed Salaat This is an emphasized Waajib, it is a means of acceptance of our A’amaal during Maahe Ramadhaan and it is also a safeguard against death.
3. Make Ghusl. Recite this Duaa before it:
O Allah, believing in Thee, fully aware of Thy Book, following the way of life of Thy Prophet Muhammad, Allah's blessings be on him and on his children, (I take bath).
|
allahumma emanan bika wa tasdedan bikitabika wattiba`a sunnati nabiyyika muhammadin salla allahu `layhi wa alihi
|
|
Then recite Bismillaah… and start making Ghusl, after finishing recite this Duaa:
O Allah let me make amends and compensate for my wrong doings, (so that) my religion becomes pure and O Allah remove the dirt from me.
|
allahumma ij`alhu kaffarattan lidhunube wa tahhir dene allahumma adh-hib `anniya alddanasa
|
اللّهُمّ اجْعَلْهُ كَفَّارَةً لِذُنُوبِي وَطَهّرْ دِينِي. اللّهُمّ أَذْهِبْ عَنّي الدّنَس
|
4. Recite Eed-Salaat.
6. Recite Duaa-e-Nudbaa. Sayyid Ibn Tawus has instructed, saying: After recitation of the Du`a' al-Nudbah, prostrate yourself and say the following:
أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ نَارٍ حَرّهَا لا يُطْفأُ
|
a`udhu bika min narin harruha la yutfa'u
|
I seek refuge with Thee from the Fire whose hot flames do not get extinguished or grow dim,
|
وَجَدِيدُهَا لا يَبْلَى
|
wa jadeduha la yabla
|
whose energetic intensity does not loose its severity,
|
وَعَطْشَانُهَا لا يُرْوَى.
|
wa `atshanuha la yurwa
|
wherein parched throats never get quenched.
|
You may then put your right cheek on the ground and say the following:
O Allah do not throw me down head on into the Fire after I have prostrated in adoration before Thee and thrown myself on the ground to humble myself before Thee; it is not a show of favour from me unto Thee but it is (Thy) merciful benevolence Thou bestows on me.
|
ilahe la tuqallib wajhiya finnari ba`da sujude wa ta`fere laka bighayri mannin minne `alayka bal laka almannu `alayya
|
|
You may then put your left cheek on the ground and say the following:
Have mercy on him who has transgressed and committed blunders, (but) now ashamed surrenders (to Thee) to receive absolution.
|
irham man asa'a waqtarafa wastakana wa`tarafa
|
ارْحَمْ مَنْ أَسَاءَ وَاقْتَرَفَ وَاسْتَكَانَ وَاعْتَرَفَ.
|
You may then return to the (ordinary) prostration and say the following:
I am a troublesome servant but Thou art the bountiful Lord-Nourisher. A great many mistakes have been committed by Thy servant but O Compassionate, from Thee (only) Lenient treatment is expected.
|
|
You may then repeat the following one hundred times:
(I plead for) pardon; (I plead for) pardon.
|
al`afwa al`afwa
|
اَلْعَفْوَ، اَلْعَفْوَ
|
Sayyid Ibn Tawus, then, adds, “Do not spend this day with entertainment and negligence while you do not know whether your deeds have been accepted or rejected. Rather, if you hope of acceptance of your deeds, you must show thanks; and if you anticipate rejection, you must be intensely sad.”
It is recommended not to leave one’s house for joining the congregational Eid al-Fitr Prayer before sunrise. It is also recommended to say the supplications that have been mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in “Iqbal al-A`mal”. One of these supplications is that Abu-Hamzah al-Thumali has reported Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s) as saying, “Whey you ready yourself for joining the congregational Friday Prayers and the Eid Prayers, you may say the following supplication:
اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ تَهَيّا فِي هٰذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ
|
allahumma man tahayya'a fe hadha alyawmi

O Allah, if one, on this day, prepares oneself,

The Eid Prayer (Salat al-`«d) consists of two Rak`ahs. In the first Rak`ah, one may recite Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah Al A'ala Mp3(No. 87). After the recitation of these Surahs, one may say the takbeer statement (i.e. allahu-akbar) five times and raise the hands for the Qunut after each takbeer, saying:
اللّهُمّ أَهْلَ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ،
|
allahumma ahla alkibriya‘i wal-`azamati
|
O Allah: You are the Lord of glory and greatness
|
وَأَهْلَ الْجُودِ وَالْجَبَرُوتِ،
|
wa ahla aljudi wal-jabaruti
|
And the Lord of magnanimity and omnipotence
|
وَأَهْلَ الْعَفْوِ وَالرّحْمَةِ،
|
wa ahla al-`afwi wal-rrahmati
|
And the Lord of pardon and mercy,
|
وَأَهْلَ التّقْوَى وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ،
|
wa ahla alttaqwa wal-maghfirati
|
And the worthiest of being feared and the Lord of forgiveness;
|
أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقّ هذَا الْيَوْمِ الّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ عِيداً،
|
as’aluka bihaqqi hadha aliyawmi alladhy ja`altahu lilmuslimena `edan
|
I beseech You in the name of this day, which You have decided to be feast for the Muslims,
|
وَلِمُحَمّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه ذُخْراً وَمَزِيداً
|
wa limuhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi dhukhran wa mazedan
|
And to be safety and increasing honor for Muhammad—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—
|
أَنْ تُصَلّيَ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ
|
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
|
(I beseech You) that You may send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
|
وَأَنْ تُدْخِلَنِي فِي كُلّ خَيْرٍ أَدْخَلْتَ فِيهِ مُحَمّداً وَآلَ مُحَمّدٍ،
|
wa an tudkhilany fe kulli khayrin adkhalta fehi muhammadan wa ala muhammadin
|
And You may include me with every item of goodness with which You have included Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
|
وَأَنْ تُخْرِجَنِي مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ أَخْرَجْتَ مِنْهُ مُحَمّداً وَآلَ مُحَمّدٍ
|
wa an tukhrijany min kulli su‘in akhrajta minhu muhammadan wa ala muhammadin
|
And that You save me from any item of evil from which You have saved Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
|
صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ.
|
salawatuka `alayhi wa `alayhim
|
May Your blessings be upon him and upon them.
|
اللّهُمّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادُكَ الصَّالِحُونَ،
|
allahumma inne as’aluka khayra ma sa’alaka `ibaduka alssalihuna
|
O Allah: I pray You for the best of all that for which Your righteous servants have prayed You,
|
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ عِبَادُكَ الصَّالِحُونَ.
|
wa a`udhu bika mimma ista`adha minhu `ibaduka alssalihuna
|
And I seek Your protection against all that against which Your righteous servants have asked Your protection.
|
You may then say the takber for the sixth time, and do the genuflection (ruku`), and prostrate yourself (sujud). When you stand up for the second Rak`ah, recite Surah ofal-Fatihah and Surah As Shams Mp3(No. 91) and then say the takbeer four times only raising the hands for the Qunut after each takbeer. After that, say the fifth takbeerand continue the prayer. After accomplishment of the prayer, say the famous Tasbeh al-Zahra' (a.s).
Narrations have mentioned many supplications to be said after the `Eid Prayer; rather the best of them may be the forty-fifth supplication of al-Sahefah al-Kamilah al-Sajjadiyyah.
It is recommended to offer the Eid Prayer outdoors, directly on the ground without putting a carpet or any other thing under the feet, to return from a way other than the one taken in the coming, to pray Almighty Allah for accepting the acts of one’s brethren-in-faith.
Rule 1757 Ayt Sistani law book :-It is mustahab (recommended )to fast From the 4th up to the 9th of the month of Shawwal. see www.Islamic-laws.com
"But how can we have more than one Eid?"
The answer: why not?!
Instead of making mountains out of molehills, Muslims and specially Shi'ias should try to resolve such issues with a little bit of common sense. If Ramadan ends on Wednesday for some people (i.e. Thursday Eid) and on Thursday for muqallids of Ayt. Khui (i.e. Friday Eid) and on Friday or Saturday for the muqallids of Ayt. Seestani in Europe (i.e. Saturday/Sunday Eid), surely there is nothing wrong in it. Each one interprets the 'Sighting of New Moon' according to the verdict of his religious authority and their interpretation of the verdict. This is a sign of a healthy & mature community which is prepared to think and lead rather than follow others without understanding.
If the other members of your family are fasting on the day you are celebrating Eid, and you are not, just drink a glass of water in the morning – you don't have to eat a four-course meal in front of them! In regards to Eid prayers, most places have services to accommodate various situations, and even if your community doesn't, keep in mind that Eid prayers are not obligatory during the occultation of the Twelfth Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and can also be offered individually (Ayatollah Sistani: Islamic Laws, ruling #1525). Remember in Islam, the Day of Eid is a day of Ibadat and not merry making and Ibadat should be performed according to its religious rules and regulations and not as we think fit or for our own pleasure or as others do.
In days long gone by, the same things used to happen, only we did not know because we as a community, we all mostly followed only one Marja and we lived in a small towns or villages - so we all used to celebrate Eid together, thinking that the whole world celebrated it with us. Today, with Ilm, education, outlook and our circumstances we re spread around the globe and so we find this phenomena a bit vied.
Furthermore, even if we see the Arab community celebrating Eid on one day, the Pakistanis the next days, and as usual the mature Khoja community after them, what exactly is the big deal? In many parts of the Muslim world, people celebrate Eid for a whole week. The more, the merrier! I for one fail to see the problem with being able to dress up, visit friends and having delicious meals in the evening for three days instead of just one! Talking to Non-Muslims, whenever they ask me about Eid Day, I tell them that we celebrate Eid over 3 days - everyone at their convenience and this avoids many questions from them.
Instead of panicking and rushing to hurl the vilest accusations at our religious scholars, andturning and twisting their research and presentations to suit our needs, let us try to be a bit more reasonable. Unity does not mean uniformity. Instead of becoming upset at such minor differences, let us learn to appreciate and enjoy the blessings of variety and diversity.
Also, we must realize that even if we ignore all jurisprudential differences, we still would not be able to avoid the issue of multiple Eids. Indeed, we see that during the caliphate of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), a man once came and told him that he had sighted the crescent for the month of Shawwal, while no one else had. The Imam a.s. told him that since he has sighted the moon himself, it was Eid for him the next day, but for the rest of the community, since there were not two reliable testimonies (as required by Shariah), it would be the 30th of Ramadan. So while it was haram for the man to fast the next day, it was in fact wajib upon everyone else!
Hence, for those who have proper knowledge and understanding of Islamic jurisprudence, this is really a non-issue. In all honesty, the moonsighting drama has nothing to do with unity or keeping our families intact. The Shia world has had multiple Eids for centuries now, so it is hard to fathom why this has become such a divisive issue. The fact of the matter is that this is a simple jurisprudential technicality which certain nefarious elements have hijacked and used to attack our Maraja-e-Taqleed, and many simple-minded Shias are sadly following suit. If we are really so concerned about maintaining unity, let us keep in mind that the one institution that has safeguarded and protected Shi'ism for the past 1200 years and the only platform that is capable of uniting us, is the same Marjaiyyat which we so quickly rush to accuse of causing disunity amongst us!
On a final note, History tell us that in the 16th century, as Mongol armies were about to overrun Baghdad, the Muslim world was too busy fighting among itself over apparently a far more pertinent matter: whether it is permissible to consume owl meat or not! While they were busy discussing this issue, Baghdad was captured and run over. Today, as we face enemies and calamities from all sides, let us learn from our own history, let us cease from wasting so much time and energy complaining about such trivial matters, let us unite under the banner of the Marjaiyyat, and let us focus on the greater problems that threaten to overrun our communities and the Muslim Ummah today. Remember the famous statement of Ayt. Khomeini (r.a.) who used to say: "Muslim world is fighting whether to keep hands open or closed during prayers, forgetting that enemies are ever ready and waiting for the chance to chop those hands."
It is time to wake up and face up the real danger which is on our doorstep. May Allah swt accept all your Ibadats of the Holy Month and the special Ibadat of the Eid Day - no matter, whenever you celebrate it!
25th Zilqad " Dahwul Ardh" The 'Spreading of the Earth' Day around 23rd Oct 2011
It is the day when the earth was spread for the advantage of human beings. The phrase "Dahwul Ardh" literally means "The spread of the earth". On this day Allah(swt) spread out ALL the land on the Earth from under the Ka`bah.
In another tradition it is reported that the first Rahmah & blessing descended on this very day....It is also reported on the authority of Imam Ali bin Moosa Ar Riza (A.S.) that tonight the two distinguished Prophets ie Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and Prophet E'esaa (A.S.) were born.
Therefore it is a highly blessed night & day to be spent in prayer and supplications.
Therefore it is a highly blessed night & day to be spent in prayer and supplications.
1) Observe FAST today. Many benefits have been mentioned of Fasting on this day eg Kaffarah (Penitence) for his sins of 70 years. In another tradition, if a person fasts on this day, it would be equivalent to fasting 60 months!
2) Have a Ghusl (bath.)
2) Have a Ghusl (bath.)
3) Pray a 2 Rak-a't Salaat at the time of "Chasht"" (After sunrise and before breakfast time) as under :-
(i) In every Rak-a't, after the recitation of Surah Al Faatih'ah once, recite Surah 91-Ash Shams- five(5 ) times ( Tanzil link)
(ii) After the Salaam recite the following :

There is no power and no strength except Allah's the Highest High, the Al-mighty.]O He who tolerates lapses, bear with my false steps, O He who responds to supplications, answer to my prayers. O He who pays attention to (all) voices, hear my cry, and have mercy on me, overlook my wrongdoings and opposition, O Owner of might and majesty
|
Then recite the following dua'a, mentioned in the Misbah al-Mutahajjid, by Shaykh al Tusi
O Allah, (Who) spread the Kaa'bah, split the grain of corn, mitigates hardships, alleviates sorrows,
I ask Thee today, [one of the days, belonging to Thee, which on account of their privileges, and availability of Thy unrestricted mercy (in them), have been declared important, given preference over (other days), and exclusively specified for the believers], to send blessing son Muhammad, Thy high-minded, great-hearted and generous servant, (whom we will) meet, very soon, on the promised Day of Judgment, (who) opened that which was kept locked and shut, and invited to truth, in every walk of life; an on his "Ahl ul Bayt" (children), the pure (above board) guides, giving light to people to sustain harmony and unity, and have the authority to admit into Paradise or sent to Hell; and give me today from Thy repository of grants, neither restricted nor denied (to the needy), and let us collect ourselves and turn to repentance and recovery in good time, O He who is called as the most favorite in exclusion to (all) others, and (who is) more generous (than others) in the matter of fulfilling hopes, O He who gives enough, O He who keeps His words, O He who treats with kindness and benevolence without making a show of it, be kind and friendly towards me, make me happy with Thy favours, lend me Thy helping hand, do not leave me out unmentioned from Thy reward giving list, for the sake of those who carry out Thy commands and take care of Thy most confidential policies, and keep me safe from the fraud and deceit of materialist vicissitudes, till the day Thou shall raise the dead for the final judgment; and let Thy close confidants be present beside me at the time when my soul departs, body disintegrates, activity ceases to operate, and my appointed time comes to an end. O Allah keep me in mind in the long hours of agony when I take quarters in between the layers of the earth, the preoccupied forgetful put me out of their head and think no more of me,
and (I ask Thee to) settle me in the ever luxuriant land, and lodge me in a lovable comforting house, in the midst and company of Thy close friends and people who have been selected and chosen for Thy neighborhood, make my meeting with thee a blissful occasion, (so that it takes place) keep me alive adhering to good in my day to day life here, free from waywardness and indecent indulgence, before the appointed time comes to an end, (then) O Allah let me reach the cistern (center) of Thy Prophet, Muhammad, blessing of Allah be on him and on his children), and quench my thirst there, thoroughly, in plenty, gliding the wholesome water pleasantly down the throat, never to be thirsty again, never to be kept away from it once I am there, never to be driven off, and let it be my most reliable preparation, quite sufficient for the questioning session on the day when witnesses will be brought.
O Allah curse the oppressors from beginning to the end, who stirred up trouble and took possession of that which rightly belonged to Thy trustworthy representatives.
O Allah put an end to their rule, destroy their followers and agents swiftly complete their ruin, freeze their properties, and let their methods and institutions enter on the narrow road ending at a dead end.
Damn their theoreticians and their associates; O Allah, send Thy trustworthy representatives at once, wrongs done to them may be redeemed their "Qaa-im" (living representative may be given his rightful opportunity to appear, appoint him to give currency to Thy religion and to establish law and order by marking out the boundaries to end the domination of Thy enemies.
O Allah let Thy Angels form a protective right around him, give him the responsibility to turn the tables on (Thy enemies) as has been decided in the night of Qadr, till Thou gets satisfied and Thy religion is re-established through him, blooming in full growth afresh on his hands, promote his cause by making it the pure truth, and let the falsehood disappear totally discredited.
O Allah send blessings on him and on all his forefathers, and let us be his companions and familiar friends, bring us back to life so that he takes us in his service, so far as we prove ourselves his staunch supporters during his tenure.
O Allah make us reach his days of renaissance and follow his leadership, and see with our own eyes his (golden) era, send blessings on him and favour us by conveying his message of goodwill to us, peace be on him and Allah's mercy and blessing be on him.

It is desirable to recite the Ziyaarat of Imam Ali bin Moosa Ar Riza (A.S.)
25th Zilqad " Dahwul Ardh" The Spreading of the Earth Day & birthday of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and Prophet E'esaa (A.S.)
Almighty Allah in Surat al-Nazi'aat 79:30 speaking clearly about dahwul ardh says: "and the earth-after that He spread it out (dahahaa).."
1. What is Dahwul Ardh ?
"Dahwul Ardh" - the 25th of Dhulqa'dah, according to a tradition of the Holy Prophet (s) reported by one of his Sahabi - 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud , is the day when the earth was spread for the advantage of human beings. The phrase "Dahwul Ardh" literally means "The spread of the earth". In another tradition it is reported that the first Rahmah & blessing descended on this very day.
Hence it is a very important occasion indeed. According to a tradition of the Holy Prophet (s), whosoever fasts on this day his fast would equal 70 years of fasting.
Having known these merits, should we limit our celebration with fasting and the expression of joy, or should our struggle transcend beyond that? This obviously would depend on our vision about this important day. And in order to understand properly the importance of this day, we should understand the earth better.
Understanding the Earth Better
We would like to now ask the Holy Qur'an two basic questions about the earth:
A) WHY WAS THE EARTH CREATED?
The Holy Qur'an in chapter 20, verse 53 says:"He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you."
Allamah Tabataba'i in his Al-Mizan says:"Thus Allah stationed man in the earth to live an earthly life, so that he may earn a provision for his heavenly and exalted life, in the manner that a baby is stationed in the cradle, and is brought up for a more sacred and developed life..." (vol. 14, pg. 171)
From this we come to realize that the earth was created as a preparing ground & means for human perfection and the purity of the heart. Sadly, however, many a people, instead of maintaining it for a good Hereafter, tend to destroy it for selfish gains.
B) DO THE HUMAN BEINGS EMPLOY THE EARTH FOR THE PURPOSE IT WAS CREATED?
The Holy Qur'an in chapter 30, verse 41 clearly talks of a people who instead of practically thanking Allah (swt) by utilizing the earth for its sacred purpose cause mischief therein and subsequently face its evil consequences:
"Corruption has appeared in the land and sea, for that men's own hands have earned, that He may let them taste some of that which they have done, that haply so they may return."
And in chapter 7, verse 10, Almighty Allah says:"Indeed We made you live in the earth and made therein for you the means of livelihood; little is it that you thank."
In this verse, "little is it that you thank" should not merely taken as "verbal thanks," for the reality of "shukr" is to use the gift for the purpose it was created.
The twenty-fifth night of Dhu’l-Qa`dah;
The Earth Spreading night ( from Mafatin Ul Jinan)
This night is called laylat dahw al-arz (the night at which the earth was spread on the water where the Holy Ka`bah is now situated). Being distinctively honorable, at this night the mercy of Almighty Allah is poured on people. A great reward is obtained by those who practice acts of worship at this night. `Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Washsha’ has narrated that when he was young, he was with his father in the hospitality of Imam al-Reza(`a) at the twenty-fifth night of Dhu’l-Qa`dah. After they had their supper, Imam al-Riza (`a) said, “At the twenty-fifth night of Dhu’l-Qa`dah, Prophet Abraham was born, Prophet Jesus the son of Mary was born, and the earth was spread on the water where the Holy Ka`bah is now situated. Hence, if one observes fasting on this day, he will be given the reward of observing fasting in sixth months.” According to another narration, Imam al-Riza (`a) added, “Verily, on this day, al-Qa'im (i.e. Imam al-Mahdi) will appear.”
The twenty-fifth of Dhu’l-Qa`dah is one of the four days on which fasting is exclusively confirmed. According to a narration, to observe fasting on this day is equal to seventy year fasting. It also erases the sins of seventy years. According to another narration, to observe fasting on this day and to practice acts of worship at its night is equal (in reward) to one hundred year worship. Everything that is between the sky and the earth will ask God’s forgiveness for one who does these rites. On this day, the mercy of Almighty Allah has been spread. To practice acts of worship and hold sessions for mentioning Almighty Allah on this day bring about an abundant reward. Apart from fasting, acts of worship, remembrance of Almighty Allah, and bathing, there are two other acts that are advisably done on this day:
On this day, it is recommended to offer, in the morning, a prayer consisting of two units, reciting in the each unit Surah al-Fatihah once and repeating Surah al-Shams (No. 91) five times. After accomplishment, the following is said:
لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَليِّ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
|
la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`a¨imi
|
There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-great.
|
Then, one may pray Almighty Allah for granting his needs and then say the following prayer:
يَا مُقِيلَ ٱلْعَثَرَاتِ اقِلْنِي عَثْرَتِي
|
ya muqila al`atharati aqilni `athrati
|
O He Who overlooks slips, (please) overlook my slip.
|
يَا مُجِيبَ ٱلدَّعَوَاتِ اجِبْ دَعْوَتِي
|

O He Who responds to prayers, (please) respond to my prayer.
|
يَا سَامِعَ ٱلاصْوَاتِ ٱسْمَعْ صَوْتِي
|
ya sami`a al-a¥wati isma` ¥awti

O He Who hears all sounds, (please) listen to mine,

وَٱرْحَمْنِي وَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ سَيِّئَاتِي وَمَا عِنْدِي
|

|
have mercy on me, and excuse my wrongdoings and whatever I have committed.
|
يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ
|

|
O Lord of majesty and honor!
|

allahumma Yalli `alayhi wa `ala jami`i aba'ihi
|
O Allah, send blessings to him and to all of his forefathers,
|
وَٱجْعَلْنَا مِنْ صَحْبِهِ وَاسْرَتِهِ
|
waj`alna min Yahbihi wa usratihi
|
include us with his companions and group,
|
وَٱبْعَثْنَا فِي كَرَّتِهِ
|
wab`athna fi karratihi
|
and resurrect us during his return
|
حَتَّىٰ نَكُونَ فِي زَمَانِهِ مِنْ اعْوَانِهِ
|
hatta nakuna fi zamanihi min a`wanihi
|
so that we will live in his age and become of his helpers.
|
اَللَّهُمَّ ادْرِكْ بِنَا قِيَامَهُ
|
allahumma adrik bina qiyamahu
|
O Allah, make us catch up his advent,
|
وَاشْهِدْنَا ايَّامَهُ
|
wa ashhidna ayyamahu
|
make us witness his days,
|
وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَٱرْدُدْ إِلَيْنَا سَلاَمَهُ
|
wa Yalli `alayhi wardud ilayna salamahu
|
bless him, and convey to us his greetings.
|
وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْهِ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
|
wa alssalamu `alayhi wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu
|
Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon him.

In his epistle entitled al-Arba`at Ayyam (The Four Days), Sayyid al-Damad has mentioned that to visit the holy tomb of Imam `Ali ibn Musa al-Riza (`a) on the day; i.e. the Earth Spreading Day, is the most preferable act. Similarly, to visit his tomb on the first of Rajab is highly desirable; therefore, he has urged on it greatly.
The Last Day of Dhu’l-Qa`dah
On the last day of Dhu’l-Qa`dah 220 AH, Imam Muhammad ibn `Ali al-Taqi al-Jawad (`a) was martyred. He was poisoned by Al-Mu`tasm Bi’llah, the `Abbasid ruler. That was only two years and a half after the death of al-Ma'mun, the `Abbasid ruler. The Imam (`a) himself had predicted so when he said, “Relief shall come thirty months after the death of al-Ma'mun.”
In fact, this statement reveals the scope of torture and pain that were suffered by the Imam (`a) in his life with al-Ma'mun. Hence, the Imam (`a) regarded his passing away as relief. Similarly, his father, Imam `Ali ibn Musa al-Riza (`a), suffered the same pains and hardships when he was appointed as the crown prince. Whenever he returned from the mosque on Fridays, Imam al-Riza (`a) used to raise his hands to the sky, sweaty and dust-covered, and supplicate to Almighty Allah, saying, “My God, if my death is my relief, then please do hasten the hour of my death.” He, furthermore, was always depressed and miserable until he departed life.
Imam Muhammad ibn `Ali al-Taqi (`a) lived for twenty-five years and a few months only. His holy tomb is directly behind the holy tomb of his grandfather, Imam Musa al-Ka¨im (`a), in the city of al-Ka¨imiyyah, Baghdad.
